It is sad to hear the sudden demise of our beloved friend and sport’s leader Mr Suresh Kalmadi, former president of Asian Athletic Association and the former president of Indian Athletics.![]()
His contribution to uplift Asian Athletics will be remembered. He was President of Asian AA for almost two decades and introduced many developmental programs. He was dedicated sports promoter who brought many changes in indian and Asian Athletics. As head Asian Athletics, he organised Afro Asian Games Commonwealth Games and and many Asian level championships. and We cannot forget the great support given to Sri Lanka, especially during the 2002 Asian Athletics Championships held in Sri Lanka and the 2006 South Asian Games.![]()

Sri Lanka Athletics' former recorder Sameera Perera has been appointed as a WA bronze level referee by the World Athletics.![]()
He has passed the online examination conducted by the World Athletics and has the distinction of being the first Sri Lankan who has achieved such appointments for track and field events.![]()

Sameera, 30, is a lecturer in Sports Science and Management at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The body of the late Mr. K.L.F. Wijedasa will lie in state for public respect at his daughter's residence, No. 3, Elibank Place, Colombo 5, tomorrow (05) from 11.30 am. The last rites will be performed at the new crematorium at the Borella Cemetery on Thursday, November 06 at 2.30 pm.

Mr. K.L.F. Wijedasa, one of the most senior officials in the Sri Lankan athletics field, has passed away. ![]()
He was 93 years old at the time of his death and was one of the greatest athletics coaches to ever live in the country.![]()
He held several positions in the Sri Lankan athletic field including National Athletics Coach, Chairman of the National Athletics Selection Committee and Asian Athletics Technical Officer. He was the former Director of Physical Education at the University of Colombo.![]()
He was an alumnus of Ananda College, Colombo, who led Royal College, Colombo to win the Sri Lanka Schools Tarbet Championship for consecutive years in the 1970s and 80s. He was a talented athlete and held the Sri Lankan record in the 100m in the 1950s.![]()

We are pleased to inform you that the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC Sri Lanka) has been invited by the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) to participate in the 37th KSOC Olympic Academy, to be held from 21st to 23rd November 2025 in Taereung and Yangpyeong, Republic of Korea.![]()

This academic programme aims to promote the development of Olympic sports and foster exchange among future sports leaders. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in expert presentations, discussions, physical activities, and cultural experiences that promote Olympic Values and Olympism.![]()

The KSOC has invited three (03) participants aged 19 to 35 years from each National Olympic Committee (NOC). Eligible candidates should be involved in sport education and/or actively working in the field of sports, with a strong interest in the Olympic Movement.![]()

One (01) participant will be selected for full sponsorship by the KSOC.![]()
The other two (02) participants may attend at their own air ticket expense. Accommodation, meals, and local transportation in Korea will be provided by the KSOC.![]()

The Federation of Korea organises, in collaboration with World Athletics, the 2025 edition of the ICAC programme which is a programme where coaches from eligible countries have the possibility of attending a high level seminar followed by a World Athletics CECS coaches’ course.![]()

i must be national of the country/MF that applies for the course![]()

ii must hold a valid CECS Level 2 certificate in the event specialisation.![]()

iii is currently working with top-level adult athletes who should be identified by name, nationality, birthdate, and discipline(s). These athletes should be working towards qualifying for and participating in international championships.![]()

iv (alternatively) may be working with his or her national federation to train coaches for international performance levels.![]()

v English proficiency, including comprehension and communication, is required![]()

* Coaches who only train junior/U20 athletes should not be selected.![]()

Should the coach express interest, we would appreciate receiving his CV, including the following details![]()

a detailed CV summarizing the coaching background, athletes’ names of the athletes coached,![]()
the results or personal bests (PBs) of the respective athletes![]()
